Familiarity with elementary geometric figures and facts:

Questions based on Basic Geometry is a must for all the exams. In Older times astronomers use geometry to measure the distance from the Earth to other planets, and chemists use it to comprehend the structure of molecules. Geometrical drawings are widely used by surveyors, architects and engineers. Navigation by sea and by air depends on accurate geometry.

Lets discuss some elementary geometric figures and facts :
BASIC GEOMETRIC SHAPES (2D)

FORMULAS FOR 2D SHAPES

TYPES OF ANGLES
1. Acute angles : The angles less than 90o.
 2. Right angles : The angles which are exact 90o.
3. Obtuse angles : The angles which are greater than 90o but less than 180o.
4. Straight line : The angle of a straight line = 180o.
5. Reflex angles : The angles which are greater than 180o.
6. Complementray angles : Two angles are said to be complimentary when their sum is equal to 90o. In second figure, even the angles do not have to be together, These two are complimentary because 27° + 63° = 90°

7. Supplimentray angles : Two angles are said to be supplimentary when their sum is equal to 180o. In second figure, even the angles do not have to be together, These two are supplementary because 60° + 120° = 180°

BASIC SHAPES , SIDES AND INTERIOR ANGLES

Tips : The sum of the interior angles of a regular n-shaped polygons is given by the formula 180(n- 2), where n is the number of sides of the polygon.
